Mahindra launched its new MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) XYLO on 13th January, 2009. Xylo is priced from 6.2 to 7.7 lakhs.The detailed price list is provided below.Mahindra Xylo powers with 2.49 litre mEagle CR De engine which gives 112 bhp results in 0-60 kmph in just 5.8 seconds.
Performance and features of XYLO are just average. Anyway comfort scores a bit more giving more value for money. Mahindra provides an Air Conditioning system without climatic control. Manual central locking, remote fuel tank lid opener, Power windows, Steering adjustment and folding rear seats are other options.

Captiva Plus ; New Captiva Launched in India by Chevrolet

New Captiva Plus was launched in India by Chevrolet in India on friday, January 23,2009.
The new premium Sports Utility Vehicle is equipped with automatic transmisssion system and all wheel drive facility. The Chevrolet Captiva Plus is tagged a new price of Rs 20.30 lakhs.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Descent Control System (DCS) and Traction Control facility are the superlative attractions in the new SUV.“The upgraded version of the SUV brings superb comfort and ease of driving, combined with unbeatable value, safety, security and luxury to our customers,” GMI President and Managing Director Karl Slym said at a press conference.

Linea ; The Latest Sedan for India from Fiat

Fiat's making a comeback with the brilliant new Linea which will then pave the way for the company's future line up. Muntaser Mirkar takes the big sedan through the grind.
Fiat Motors launched its new sedan Linea on january 14, 2009. Fiat linea competes in the segment which incorporates Suzuki SX4, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Linea is Priced around 6.20 to 8.41 lakhs. Linea would be available in five variants - Active, Dynamic, Dynamic Pack, Emotion and Emotion Pack with two engine options - petrol and diesel.

The design of Linea is Italian blended. Interiors are of good quality matching the in-segment cars. Petra and Palio D were the other Sedans Launched by Fiat Motors in India. The Petra was an utter failure.

Hyundai i20

Hyundai i20 is actually a nice car but ofcourse over-priced. Hyundai's i20 holds a 1197 cc 5-speed manual transmission engine. Hyundai showcased i20 in the Paris Motorshow (october 2008). I20 is expected to replace all models of Getz in the whole world market. I dont think that i20 is a wise step taken by Hyundai. Even though the car is well and good compared to those in the same premium segment like Suzuki Swift or Indica Vista, i20 seems to be a bit more expensive. i20 may suite for those enthusiasts looking for just a new definition but may not be worth the cash paid.

On comparison with Scoda's Fabia, i20 may not score more. Hyundai must have learned the lesson from Fabia's failure to shake the Indian automobile Industry. The general trend is to opt for a Sedan in this price range. Anyway i20 can be realised just as a risky experiment from the manager's of hyundai.

Maruti Suzuki's all new A-Star

The A-Star is Maruti Suzuki’s new Alto variant for European market with the name ‘Pixo’. The same car is all set to sell alongside the Maruti Alto in Indian market. A-Star is expected have a 1000 cc engine, 37 bhp and it is expected to be priced around Rs 4 lakhs (ex-showroom). This car will be Maruti’s newest addition in the A2 segment joining other models like WagonR and Zen Estilo. It has been reviewed that an all new one litre aluminium engine promises to be smoother and more efficient than the current range of Maruti engines. The A-Star was exhibited in Auto expo 2008 at New Delhi, most of our attention was caught towards Tata’s Nano in that event during January 2008. The design of A-Star is the fusion of maruti's alto and swift with Hyundai's i10 as the backbone. The car seems to be a copy of i10 in many respects in case of design. The bulging front- headlamp is the best pointer to this notion. Continuous head-rest seats and the interior -design adds to this fact to some extent.
